We at Stray Factory seem to have forgotten that interns do not continue as interns for the rest of their lives! With that, we regret to say we won’t be hearing much more from our very own Teddy the Intern. We wish him all the very best in life and work and, on such a happy note, we turn it over to him! Teddy, tell us what you need to! And then lead yourself a happy life! Folks, Teddy the Intern! Listen now as he probably won’t be with us much longer. In a not so morbid way, eh Teddy? Take it, Teddy!

Hey again. So, I guess now’s a pretty good time to just tell you what’s been up. Maybe not with me but with these guys. Stray Factory’s putting up a show today. It’s a private show, which means I’m not allowed but, you know, atleast I got to watch their rehearsals. They’re putting up some sketches and stuff. I’m told these guys perform when people call them and all. I asked if they’d be up for performing at my birthday party and they said yeah. That was a bummer cause I thought I was cracking a joke but nobody laughed. Anyway, I hope they do well. Good luck?
Oh, yeah, speaking of birthday’s, it’s one of my bosses’ birthdays today. So, happy birthday, I guess. Anyway, all the best to these guys. I’m told they do public shows as well so I’ll be there for one of those. That should be fun. Well, good luck Stray monkeys.

Ladies and gentlemen, bloggers and monkeys, people of all areas of Chenna!. Stray Factory has decided to put its new intern, Teddy, on this blogging forum and have asked him to keep it up and running. We admit, Teddy the Intern was surprised when he heard about his new task but we have full faith in his abilities to write and post and write some more. Without further ado, we turn it over to Teddy the Intern!
Actually, hold on for a bit, there is further ado! A little bit about Teddy the Intern. Teddy the Intern has done some theatre here and there, which works well for us, seeing as we hold theatre close to our heart. His theatre has been a little bit removed from conventional theatre though. In short, Teddy the Intern has had so much happen to him while acting, he feels it might be safer if he just wrote about his experiences with theatre than actually get on stage for some time. And now, for real this time, without further ado, Teddy the Intern!

Hi everybody. My name is Teddy and I am the new intern here at Stray Factory. My bosses have asked me to write a little bit about my experiences in theatre as well as to keep people informed of what Stray Factory is doing. So I guess I’ll do that. I started theatre a while ago and I’ve had some interesting experiences since then. I don’t know how much I can help you about learning the art but I can try helping out anyway.I can tell you how not to audition for a play, if that helps? One of the best ways to not audition is to not show up. That always works well. Another way is to leave rehearsal for one play to audition for another. You really piss a lot of people off. If you’re auditioning for a musical, you could try singing a song like Nakka Mukka. That usually does the trick. If it doesn’t, you could switch to a classical opera version of Happy Birthday. I don’t know, if these aren’t working either, you could go for an audition with the script of Death Proof by Quentin Tarantino. That story’s about some voluptuous women or something. Anyway, do a reading as one of the slutty female characters and then you surely won’t get your part. I think that’ll help.

There you have it folks, that’s our very own Teddy the Intern! He’s got the knowledge and he’s ready to share it! Now that he’s in charge of our blog, you can get more on what to do, or not to do, right Teddy? He’ll be back with more on theatre, Stray Factory and everything under the sun, as and when he gets to the computer! Thanks again, Teddy! You make us proud! -

Memory Hole
Ours is unique polity. It derives its inspiration, to survive, from its strength of self- destructive acts. Its a coalition of multi-factions and not political organization. It changes its face, form, color, creed faster than any other organism known or any machine invented. Its defeatist tendencies are at its best when victory is the only way to survival. The democratic set up has many facades but one particularly is interesting in this case- The idea of Majority. Majority procreates by consensus, recreates differences and generates dissent. The brokers of power in such systems are all religious psychedelics. Some in the name of secularism others in the name of pseudo-secularism. The -isms of this era ( secularism, terrorism, racism, many more perhaps) are incubating on religions of all eras. The current effort by the present political coterie is de facto an act of creating a memory hole in the psyche of nation rather than creating a holistic memory.

Curse of Caste
Two things unite India more than anything else : Cricket and Cinema. Every hero needs a villain. So the two things which divide India more than anything else, if I am any judge, it is definitely Religion and Caste. History of caste system has never been so irrelevant as it stands now. The proponents always advocate the basic rationale of division of labour to champion the need for caste system. Today, the idea of labour division has disintegrated into the oblivion of consumer culture and the system thrives on the ghost of labour division. This makes me recall any instance in Hindu mythology where any incarnation of Lord Vishnu ever advocated caste system. This is important because more than 95% of our knowledge about our systems and rituals are the photocopying of these mythical legends. To say that we know Vedas and Puranas would be mockery of our identity as being Indian. We are smart society. We manipulate our consciousness. So as a Brahmin you can be an hair-expert, a janitor but (s)he cannot marry any of these professionals. So marrying outside your caste is taboo and within your caste is curse. So if a group of caste-police tries to create a new definition of morality ( http://ibnlive.in.com/news/caste-honour-is-above-law-haryana-khap-leaders/113254-3.html?from=tn) then the reaction of our polity is worth contemplating especially when the need for integrated labour is the reason for reservation. I will not be surprised if they invoke western idea of individualism when odds are against them. We are actually selective hypocrites.

Distance and Space
The Economist in one of its issue coined the termed “Death of Distance’ in the context of distance learning but the core issue was the effect of medium becoming the message, if I can borrow McLuhan’s idea of communication. Globalization studies are pass`e but effect lingers. Today speed is more relevant than ever. Virilio said ” The speed of light does not merely transform the world. It becomes the world. Globalisation is the speed of light”. I am not even student on Virilio’s work but definitely this statement at least makes me think that speed is the change today.Speed has not only killed Distance but it has blurred the categorization of Distance and Space. We started our concept of Distance and Space as physical and emotional. Today, the categorization is farce. The first loss was physical with the advent of fibers and the drivers. Then followed the emotional because of the Speed. Speed decimated the idea of emotional space.Speed created new definitions, newer hypothesis and newest relations
